Blue lace agate is a relatively new gemstone, having only been discovered in the 1960s. The first known deposit of blue lace agate was found in Namibia, Africa, by a prospector named Willy Preiss. Preiss was searching for other gemstones in the area when he came across a seam of blue and white agate. He recognized the potential of the stone and began mining it.

The blue lace agate from Namibia is considered to be the finest in the world. The stone has a distinctive lacy pattern of light blue and dark blue, which is caused by the presence of two different minerals, chalcedony and quartz. The blue lace agate from Namibia is also known for its clarity and depth of color. In addition to Namibia, blue lace agate has also been found in other parts of the world, including Brazil, China, India, and the United States. However, the blue lace agate from Namibia is still considered to be the best-of-the-best.

The history of blue lace agate is a relatively short one, but the stone has quickly become popular for its beauty and rarity. Blue lace agate is often used in jewelry and other decorative items, and it is also prized by collectors.
