Sugilite a rare, vibrant, purple gemstone from the Kalahari manganese fields of South Africa. Due to its high demand and limited mining, often 3000+ feet underground, it makes these gemstones very rare.
With a Mohs hardness of 5.5–6.5 it is prized for jewelry.
